February Meeting: Business Intelligence, Reporting, & SQL Server

Category : Meeting

NOTE:  This meeting will be a morning meeting
                BUT WILL BE AT GOEGLEIN’S
Although our primary systems may be IBM i’s, we don’t live in an isolated world anymore.  Data lives in more than one place.  As such, it often needs to be collected and organized for business reporting.  This month we look beyond the electronic walls of the i and will discuss leveraging SQL Server’s existing tools for your reporting needs.

Starting with SQL Server 2012, Microsoft started including many of the tools necessary to manage and/or automate reporting and data consolidation needs “out of the box”.  At the meeting, Luke will give a brief overview of how you can utilize the tools you may already own to:

  • Quickly automate your data consolidation needs using SQL Server Integration Services
  • Subscribe to reports in SQL Server Reporting Services and
  • Have them delivered to your email inbox at pre-determined times

Utilizing SQL Server Analysis Services, create a method for users to quickly analyze data without the need of IT managed reports.

This month our speaker is Luke Bailey of ASCC.  Joining ASCC in January 2016, Luke has been developing and maintaining MS Windows applications for several ASCC customers.  Prior to joining ASCC, Luke served as a Web Developer, an Applications Developer and a Business Intelligence Developer for several area businesses.  Luke is a Microsoft Certified Professional with the following certifications:
– Querying MS SQL Server 2012/2014
– Administering MS SQL Server 2012/2014 Databases
– Implementing a Data Warehouse with MS SQL Server 2012/2014.
